Serious Sam 3: BFE Review

What is Serious Sam? Imagine fighting hundreds of enemies, navigating beautiful environments and listening to cheesy one-liners all at the same time. This is Serious Sam. Back in 2001, the game shocked the gaming world with its 90s style FPS gameplay, huge levels and fighting more than one enemy at a time. So good was this formula that the unknown indie game won several “Game of the Year” awards and had a sequel one year later. However, the success wasn’t meant to last with the release of Seriou Sam 2, which disappointed fans with its cartoony graphics and poor gameplay choices. Now, with the Serious Sam 3 engine, does Croteam still have what it takes, or will Serious Sam be another Duke Nukem.

Potential of the PS Vita

The Potential of the PS Vita

The Vita is a console that has received nothing but good press and fan attention since it was announced, and once the design was made public, the interest directed towards Sony's next-generation portable has been considerable. With two solid analogue sticks, a touch-sensitive back plate and graphics beyond its Nintendo competitor, it seems set to become the invested gamer's portable console of the first half of the decade

The potential offered by the console is significantly more than that of its predecessor. Not only do dual analogue sticks mean FPS movement and better overall control is possible, but the fact they are no longer sliding around due to a lack of a joystick-esque design means a higher-quality gaming experience, and that's crucial when even the 3DS is gimmicky and its potential undersold by a poor analogue that can't really be described as a "stick."

The multimedia potential of the PS Vita - everything from watching films to checking your chip balance on Online Poker via the web browser is possible, and you'll soon find that it's a media hub just like the PS3 - albeit without a Blu-Ray player, but putting HD content to one side seems like a premature decision on the part of any interested party. The titles that have been shown thus far are not simply impressive - they are single-handedly setting the bar for portable gaming as it is currently. Some would argue that portable graphics are approaching a plateau, but realistically this isn't true - until they reach the level of the same plateau upon which the consoles of tomorrow will rest, there will be more improvements, and things can only get better.

Most importantly, the console's quality and price signify an important focus on portable gaming for Sony - Nintendo's consoles may be more financially accessible (post-3DS-price-drop, anyway), but there's something about the Vita that speaks to those who want sturdy, high-tech consoles that play games designed for gamers, rather than a platform with some good releases mixed in with countless games for small children or 'ware that speaks only to businesspeople using it on the tube. The Vita stands to see its appearance on the gaming marketplace rewarded, and with good reason, too.

Minecraft 3 million sales, Mojang being sued by Bethesda

Yesterday, Minecraft hit 3 million sales. Notch was probably celebrating the day until he got a certain letter from Bethesda , or more precisely their publisher, Zenimax Media , that is basically asking them (Mojang AB) to rename their upcoming "Scrolls" game due to similarities with the popular series "The Elder Scrolls" and their upcoming entry to the franchise "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim ". Although this might just be "lawyers being lawyers" as Notch said, what we really want to know is who (if anyone) refers to the TES series as "Scrolls" and how that could cause any confusion. Notch posted the first page of the document sent to him, we have it shown bellow.
